Status Quo Jewish Cemetery

A split developed in Satu Mare's Jewish community at the turn of the twentieth century. Some members, dissatisfied with the influence of Hassidism on the direction of the community, defected and formed their own group, called the Status Quo. Led by Sándor Jordán, they founded religious, educational and social institutions - including this cemetery. There have been less than one thousand burials here.
