Béke úti temető

Béke úti temető

📍 Egyházashollós, Ungaria

🕊️ Béke úti temető – Böhönye, Hungary The Béke úti Cemetery in Böhönye, located in Somogy County, Hungary, is a solemn and historically significant burial site, known especially for its role as a German war graves cemetery from the Second World War. Originally, the cemetery included the graves of 300 German soldiers from the cemetery of the 1st Mountain Division in Böhönye. As part of an organized effort to preserve and centralize war graves, additional reburials were carried out between 1990 and 1993. During this period, the remains of German fallen soldiers were transferred from various locations across the surrounding district to Béke úti Cemetery. As a result of these reinterments, the cemetery now serves as the final resting place for 2,080 German soldiers who lost their lives during the war. The site is carefully maintained and arranged in a dignified manner, with orderly grave markers and memorial elements that emphasize remembrance, respect, and historical responsibility. Today, Béke úti Cemetery stands not only as a burial ground but also as a place of remembrance and reconciliation. It offers visitors a quiet environment for reflection and serves as an important historical memorial, ensuring that the memory of those who fell is preserved for future generations.
