Church of St. Achilles

The Church of St. Achilles is located on a hill in the center of today's Arilje and is the endowment of King Dragutin (King of Serbia 1276-1282 , King of Srem 1282-1316) from the end of the 13th century . It has the basis of a single-nave building with a narthex and exonarthex , and was built in the Raska style , in which it is unique in its slender, elongated proportions and facades dissected by pilasters and blind arcades The frescoes were completed in 1296 . It was made in the tradition of the monumental style of Serbian fresco painting of the 13th century, and it features portraits of Dragutin himself, then his wife Catalina and their sons ( Urošic and Vladislav ), as well as his brother, King Milutin (1282-1321). The monastery existed even before Dragutin 's time, and it has been in it since 1219 . year [2] was the seat of Moravica bishops and later metropolitans, who were sometimes called Arilje . The site itself may have existed as a monastery since the time of Emperor Samuel (976-1014), who built a large monastery in St. Achilles in his capital Prespa. The monastery was the archbishop 's seat in 1433. year, and 1650 . years is mentioned as desolate. At the end of the 19th century , there was an empty tomb of Saint Achilles in the church, and Serbian genealogies state that Dragutin's son Urošic was buried in it, from whose relics myrrh flowed.

The Church of St. Catherine (Croatian: Crkva sv. Katarine) was built by the Jesuits between 1620 and 1632 and replaced a fourteenth-century Dominican church. It was victim to fire twice, once in 1645 and again in 1674, devastating the interior. The church was severely damaged by the 1880 earthquake, but after six months of repairs, it was reconsecrated in November 1881.

The Cimetière des Champeaux de Montmorency, at Montmorency, Val-d'Oise in Île-de-France, is a cemetery first established in the 17th century. It has the particularity of being the largest Polish burial place in France, hence its appellation as the "Pantheon of the Polish Emigration". It is located 15 km north of Paris and adjacent to the spa resort of Enghien-les-Bains. That it fell to Montmorency to become the main necropolis of the Polish diaspora in the country is due to two Polish political exiles, who happened to be staying at the nearby spa at the time of their death and were buried in the local cemetery. They were the statesman and poet, Julian Ursyn Niemcewicz, one time Polish envoy to the United Kingdom and Karol Kniaziewicz, politician and brigadier general in Napoleon's Grande Armée.
