Greek: Ερρίκος Τράιμπερ, capitalised as ΕΡΡΙΚΟΣ ΤΡΑΪΜΠΕΡ German philhellene doctor, participated in the 1821 Greek War of Independence. With the onset of the revolution he came to Greece and offered his services to the various Greek factions. He attended the battle of Peta, and was in Messolonghi along with Mavrokordatos in 1823. Lieutenant-General Karaiskakis died in his arms in 1827. After the revolution he continued to serve Greece, contributing greatly to the organization of medicine in the Greek army. In 1833 he became King Otto's personal physician. From 1835 he was a lecturer and from April 14, 1837 to July 21, 1841 professor of surgery at the medical faculty of the newly founded National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. In 1861 he was appointed General Physician and in 1864 Major General. He kept a diary from January 12, 1822 to April 23, 1828 during the revolution, which was translated into Greek in 1960. He died in April 1882 in Athens. From his 1831 marriage to Santa Origoni, Treiber had 6 children. His eldest daughter, Rosa, married Petros Kiappe (Pietro Chiappe), son of another Philhellenic and fighter of the revolution of 1821, Joseph Kiappe (Giuseppe Chiappe).
