Casualty of the Great War, Arthur served with the 4th Bn.The Rifle Brigade;Service No: 9909. He enlisted at Stratford, East London. He was lost at sea in the sinking of the Fleet Messenger 'Princess Alberta'. The ship struck a mine near Mudros on the island of Lemnos in the Aegean Sea. He left a widow,Rhoda Ethel Monkman [nee Willis] of 225 Peabody Buildings, Hackney Rd., London.
