Branko Ćopić

In memoriam

He was a Yugoslav writer. He is today remembered as a favorite writer of the children stories from the school books, but also as a dissident and "heretic" who had to explain himself to the party bureaucracy because of his criticism of the revolution and post-war life, corrupted by the materialism of the "comrades", blossomed bureaucracy and sycophancy, which he despised.
