Dorde Brankovic

In memoriam

Transylvanian Serb Diplomat and Writer. An influence on early modern Serbian historiography, he was a self-proclaimed descendant of the medieval Serbian Brankovic dynasty who attempted to restore the medieval Serbian state. In 1689 he was arrested and imprisoned at Sibiu (then Transylvania) until late 1703, when he was kept at a house in Cheb where he died at the age of about 66.
