In memoriam

The following extract is from Huddersfield's Roll of Honour: 1914-1922 (2014) by J. Margaret Stansfield: EXLEY, SAM. Private. No 36909. 8th Battalion Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry. Lived Station House, Clayton West. Employed as a roller-coverer by Messrs R. Beanland and Company, Clayton West. Enlisted May 1916. Died of pneumonia in Bulgaria, 5.12.1918, aged 21 years. Buried SOFIA WAR CEMETERY. Grave location:- Plot 3, Row A, Grave 13. ROH:- Clayton West and High Hoyland War Memorial. Cenotaph located HERE Service No: 36909 Age: 21 Regiment/Service: Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry, 8th Bn.
