In memoriam

He was the second son of George and Jane Haddock, of 1 Vernon's Buildings, Saltney, Cheshire. He had worked as a clerk in the office of Mr Turnock, Forest House, Chester and later in the offices of the Mersey Ironworks, Ellesmere Port. He joined the Cheshire Regiment, 12th Battalion in 1914. Service Number: 15286. After his training he was sent to France, where he served for about 6 months. From there he was transferred to a different Front. His family were expecting him home in November 1918 but sadly he was killed in action, aged 25 yrs. He is commemorated here on the Doiran Memorial, Greece and also on the War Memorial in St Mark's Church, Saltney. (Source:- Cheshire Observer 19th October 1918)
