Victor Al. Macedonschi, a well-known merchant and ship-owner, concessionaire of the beach opposite the Captaincy - "Macedonschi beach", had a shop with many technical articles in Traian Square no.16, corner with Hepites Street (agricultural, industrial, automobile and marine engines), a steamship agency that made trips to Galati and on the Old Danube, with the ships Primăvara and Concordia. Together with Virgil Budescu, in 1924 he set up the "National House of Credit and Aid", the "House" being one of the measures envisaged by a planned "Economic Party of the Guilds" (1930), which aimed to ensure that the guilds were represented in Parliament not by politicians, but by householders elected from among them.
