Private Roy Woolcock, service #454 with the Regiment/Service: Australian Infantry, A.I.F., 7th Bn. age: 22 Son of R. E. and Emma Jane Woolcock, of 177, Queensberry St., Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Native of Trentham, Victoria. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Pte. Roy Clifford Woolcock, 7th Battalion Australian Infantry, died of enteric at Lemnos on 21st November 1915. His photograph was published on 18th December 1915. [1] "Private Roy C. Woolcock (died of illness) was the third eldest son of Mr. Richard Woolcock, of the Victorian Railways. Previous to the war he was employed as a cleaner at the locomotive sheds, North Melbourne. He was captain of the West End Football Club. He enlisted at the commencement of the war, and went away with the first contingent, and took part in the landing at Gaba Tepe, and although he was in the trenches for several months, he escaped injury, but he contracted enteric and succumbed to it at Mudros on November 21." [2] Buried in Portianos Military Cemetery, he was the son of Richard and Emma Jane Woolcock, of Batman Street, West Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
