Romanian essayist, literary critic, diplomat and politician. He is a descendent from the Wallachian ruler Constantin Brâncoveanu. Paleologu was a very important figure in Romanian culture and literary criticism despise the fact that he received little recognition during his life in the communist regime. After the 1989 revolution, he persuaded an active political life, being elected as the Romanian ambassador in France.
