Anda Vlahovic Obican

In memoriam

Anda Vlahovic married Lazar Obican in 1914. Lazar, Anda and Meodrag ( Anda’s brother) are all together at Novo Groblje. In 1918 she wrote to her cousin, Cecilia Spread Smith to tell her of the death of her mother Anne Spread Vlahovic. Anda writes from 13 Rue de Suffren in Cannes. Anda tells Cecilia “ poor mama, she never lived for herself and found all her joy in a life’ s work for my father and brother who are gone”. “She was not only my mama but my best friend”. Anda has two children, “Milo, 20 months, and Jovan (John) was born at Cannes one week before poor mama died”. No further correspondence has appeared in family collections, but the Australian family always talked about Annie and Anda. There is hope some more of the family letters will be found one day.
