Andrew McQuarrie

In memoriam

Son of Mrs (Janet) McQuarrie and James McIlwraith (of James McIlwraith & Sons). Residing at 8 Blackwood St., Barrhead . His mother received word that her son Pte Andrew McQuarrie, Scottish Horse, had been seriously wounded. This was been followed by an intimation on his death at Salonika in the Balkan Theatre. Pte MacQuarry enlisted in Sept 1915 and went to the Dardanelles at the end of 1915. Prior to war he was employed by the Gateside Waterproofing Company, the Fereneze Works and Thomson' Waterproofing Co. Ltd. He was assigned to the Black Watch (Royal Highlanders), 13th (Scottish Horse) Battalion. Andrew is commemorated at Salonika (Lembet Road) Military Cemetery Burial plot 912 Thessaloniki, Regional unit of Thessaloniki, Central Macedonia, Greece
