Anthony Svalj

Father of Matthew Anthony Svall (family name was originally Svalj). Family was from Laibach (now Ljubljana, but has been called Laibach since the Middle Ages and residents including the Svall family in the United States, affectionately refer to their home as "Laibach"). Anthony Svalj was also father to a daughter, whose name I do not know. From what I understand, Anthony's wife (and Matthias' mother) died in Ljubljana while Matthias (Matt) Svall was very young and his father, feeling that he could not care for young Matt, sent him to live and be raised in a Catholic monastery in Ljubljana. Young Matthias was able to find his sister once he was older and grown, but she was cool to him. Sad upbringing for a young fellow, but Matthias Svall came to the United States and then married Anna Derglin, and had a family of his own.
