Anton Vovk

Bishop of Ljubljana from 1959 to 1961, archbishoop of Ljubljana from 1961 to 1963. Persecuted by the communist regime after World War II. On 20 January 1952 (as apostolic administrator in the absence of Gregorij Rožman) Vovk traveled to perform confirmation in Novo Mesto. There he was doused with gasoline and set alight by secret police agents at the train station. He did not die from his injuries, but suffered from them for the rest of his life.
