From The Capodistrias Museum, Center of Capodistrian Studies: Antonios-Maria Capodistrias (1741-1821), a reputable lawyer, took an active part in the political life of the area. As representative of the island to the Sublime Porte, he participated in the negotiations for the founding of the Septinsular Republic.
