Apostolos “Paul” Kontos

In memoriam

The warm hearted and hard working Apostolos "Paul" Kontos was adored by all who knew him. As a very young man, his responsibility was to transport goods from his parent's store in Trypi to the neighboring village of Kalamata. The treacherous journey through rugged mountains, often put himself and donkey in peril. On Nov. 23, 1910, ( at the age of 19) he immigrated to America. He was met by his brother Peter who had started restaurants. He worked as a cook for many years helping to build several restaurants with his brothers. He spent most of his life in the Detroit area of Michigan, but would go back to Greece often to visit family. He was everyone's favorite uncle and had several Godchildren.
