Paybook photograph of NX46460 Private Archibald Frederick Sinclair, 2/4th Battalion, Australian Infantry. Private Sinclair, aged 24, was reported missing, believed drowned on 28 May 1941, as a result of enemy action during the evacuation of Crete, after defending the island against the German land and airborne invasion. He was the son of Sidney Gordon and Ellen Sinclair, of unknown. He is commemorated on the Athens Memorial Face 11. (Photograph supplied by the Army's Soldier Career Management Agency. Also his name is located at panel 30 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial. Father Sydney Gordon Sinclair (1885-1945) Mother Sarah "Ellen" McCarthy (1887-1964)
