Aurelian Preda was born in Curtea de Argeș in a family that loved folklore , popular music and fiddle. When he was 12, his father died; Aurelian Preda had to work as a salesman at a grocery store to support himself at school. He wanted to become a priest, but gave up this idea after being discouraged by a teacher in the 8th grade. He graduated from the "Vlaicu Vodă" National College in his hometown. The singer's life was marked by several medical problems. He was diagnosed with a cerebral aneurysm and was clinically dead , the doctors giving him no more chances of survival. In 2010, Aurelian Preda was diagnosed with colon cancer for the cure of which he underwent four operations. However, this caused his death at the age of 46, in a private clinic in Vienna ; Aurelian Preda was buried at Dervent Monastery .
