Romanian Statesman. He was the first Prime Minister of Romania, serving only four months, from February 15, 1862 until June 20, 1862. He was a member of the Romanian Partidul Conservator party and was appointed to his position by Alexandru Ioan Cuza, the Domnitor of Romania. While leaving parliament, he was assassinated at close range in late June of 1862. His killer escaped and was never apprehended.
