Benjamin Usher Hamilton died of cholera at Corfu in 1850. A stone was erected to his memory but I cannot find a record of it. He was the Surgeon for the 16th Regiment of Foot and 34 yrs of age. His family lived in Scarva, He left only his 2 sisters Frances Alicia Usher and Alice Parkes-Bennett. He was the only brother of Frances and Alice. Benjamin received his education in Glasgow,at the University of Glasgow as a Doctor and and was a career Asst. Surgeon and Surgeon for the 16th Regiment of Foot,Bedfordshire Regiment, serving in Cork, Ireland, Gibralter and at Corfu. His parents were Robert Lucas Hamilton Lt. 51st Regiment of Foot and mother Frances (Usher) Hamilton. Benjamin was not married and his worldly belongings which amounted to many properties in co. Armagh and co. Down, Northern Ireland were left to his sisters by way of a will dated and signed at Corfu. I would travel to the English Cemetery in Corfu if I knew that his stone still stands there.
