He was killed in action at sea when HMT Salmat was sunk during an operation off Greece. Nearest landform, (off Leonidio, Greece). Medals: 1939/45 Star, Africa Star, Defence Medal, War Medal, Australia Service Medal. He is commemorated on the Roll of Honour in Kalgoorlie WA, also his name is located at panel 35; Supplementary panel 8 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial. Son of Robert James Hancock and Lily Louisa Jane Hancock, of South Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. Father Robert James Hancock (1875-24.1.1938) Mother Lillian "Lily" Louisa Jane Jordan (1886-1968)
