He was the son of Ellen "Nellie" Campbell and Edmond Alexander Charles Campbell who himself was a Captain in the Gordon Highlanders. They lived at Rosedell, Twyford Hampshire. A beneficiary of his estate was his sister Henrietta Blanche Gwendolyne Campbell. He was serving with the 2th service battalion Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders having transferred from 11th Bn Gordon Highlanders. He is commemorated on a panel inside St Mary's Church, Twyford, Hampshire.
