Caterina Tezio Bernini

Caterina was the daughter of Paolo Tezio, a Roman, whose ancestors had enjoyed singular privileges and offices in the city from the time of Paul III, and his wife Eugenia Valeri, whose family had burial rights in S. Tomasso in Parione, in Via de Parione, near the Oratorian Church of Santa Maria in Vallicella or Chiesa Nuova. On 15 May 1639, Caterina married Gian Lorenzo Bernini at S. Tomasso. It was an arranged marriage, under orders from Pope Urban.
