An unskilled worker of "Hercegovinaputeva" (street cleaning firm), Ćazim Veljković easily recognized the evil that was being prepared for his people and his only homeland - Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the early stages of the Bosnian War. Leaving his unemployed wife and five children with his parents, father Sejfo and mother Đula, in his native village of Gradac near Konjic, he joined the "Green Berets,"the "Klis" unit in April 1992. He is survived by his parents and six siblings. He has been in all the actions of his unit since the day he joined, and in them he expresses himself with the courage and sacrifice characteristic of children from large and poor families. He performed all tasks without discussion, among the first in the actions taken by volunteers, including one of the many actions for the "southern unblocking of Sarajevo," in which he died on the slopes of Trebevic, February 6, 1993, as a member of the 445th Mountain Brigade of the Army of RBiH. He was a fighter that his comrades-in-arms will always remember and the family had a son, a brother, a husband and a father to be proud of.
