Srebrenica-Potočari Memorial and Cemetery
Also known as Srebrenica Memorial The cemetery is dedicated to the 8,372 Srebrenica civilians murdered by members of the Serbian Army from July 11-16, 1995 during the Bosnian War. Although the majority of the victims were male, Bosnian Muslims and Croats, burials include all religions and both sexes. As remains are recovered and identified from mass graves, the remains can be reburied here. Although the first 600 burials occurred on March 31, 2003, the cemetery was not officially dedicated until September 20, 2003. Former U.S. President William J Clinton, who was the president during the Bosnian War, was the keynote speaker. As of July 11, 2013, 6,838 victims have been identified and 6,066 have been interred here. Each grave is marked with a marble stele identifying the deceased.
