Stara Gradiska Concentration Camp
Established in 1941 on the site of a prison, Stara Gradiska Concentration Camp in Croatia was notorious for crimes committed primarily against women and children. Inmates were starved, tortured, used in medical experimentation, gassed, and/or strangled to death with piano wires. The Camp was liberated in 1945 by Tito's Partisans.
