Economist and Mathematician. After immigrating from Greece in 1969, he obtained his advance degrees from the California Institute of Technology, culminating with a Ph.D. in 1973. He became a professor of Economics and Mathematics at Purdue University and a member of the American Mathematics Society. He also served as Chair for the Departments of Mathematics and Computer Science. He was a visiting professor of mathematics and economics at the California Institute of Technology, senior research fellow for mathematics and its applications at the University of Minnesota, and visiting economic professor at Cornell University. He introduced the concepts of Banach and Riesz methods in economic theory. Over the course of his life, he had over ninety publications including twelve books. He was the founding editor of the journals "Economic Theory," and "Annals of Finance," and served as editor for the magazine "Positivity." He was also a founding member of the Society for he Advancement of Economic Theory. Some of his books included: "Infinite Dimensional Analysis: A hitchhiker's guide," "Principles of Real Analysis," and "Games and Decision Making."
