Chaskel Nokhemovski Ruhm

Chaskel Haskel Nokhemovski Ruhm BIRTH 1856 • Colomea, Austria, Galitzia, Ukraine DEATH 1927 • Suczawa, Bukovina, Austria, now/Suceava, Romania They were five brothers born in the mid 19th century (Haskel the eldelst - 1856, Israel, the youngest, - 1870). Their father Jakob Nokhemovsky fled his hometown of Byalistok, at that time belonging to the Russian Empire, to the town Horodenka who at that time belonged to the Austrian empire. There he married Beyle Ruhm in an Orthodox Jewish ritual. When the children (Haskel and his brothers) were born, the Austrian authorities did not accept the Jewish ritual and registered the children's family name as "Ruhm".
