Religious Leader. Archbishop of the Greek Orthodox Church. Born in Xanthi, Greece, and ordained in 1965. The church saw a resurgence in membership of young people under his charismatic leadership. He also promoted the healing of grievances with the Roman Catholic Church, and had a historic meeting with the Pope.
