Son of Cecil Coulter Betts and Louisa Alice Betts of Knockboy House, Recess, Connemara, Co. Galway, formerly of 12 Park Mansions, Calcutta. Educated at Monkstown Park School, Monkstown, Dublin, and Sherborne School.
