Paybook photograph of VX33417 Gunner Cyril John O'Meara, 3rd Light Anti Aircraft Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery. Gunner O'Meara, aged 32, died while defending the island of Crete against the German land and airborne invasion on 29 May 1941. He was the son of Edmund John and Jane Agnes O'Meara, of Northcote, Vic. He is commemorated on the Athens Memorial Face 10. (Photograph supplied by the Army's Soldier Career Management Agency. He is commemorated on the Roll of Honour in Preston Vic, also his name is located at panel 21 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial.
