Orthodox Saint. A native of the village of Bassarbovo, Dimitrie was a shepherd who pastured the cattle of his fellow villagers. Entering monastic life not far from his native village, he spent the most of his life as a hermit in a nearby cave. Passing away on Lom river's bank between two rocks, tradition has it, that due to his eremitical life, no one knew of his death and thus his body remained between the mentioned rocks covered by the waters of the river until heavy rainfall swept it into the water and buried it beneath the river sand. A blind girl had a dream about this and the next morning pointed at the exact location where the body lay in the river. The body was found intact and, once taken out of the water, was taken to the village church, remaining there until 1774, when it was moved to the Patriarchal Cathedral of Bucharest, where it lies incorrupt to this day, housed in a silver casket.
