Dominik Minnich

Dominik was born in Csatád, Torontál, Hungary which, in 1926, was renamed Lenauheim and has been a part of Timis county, Romania since 1917. He was the third of seven children of Nikolas Minnich and Anna Bernhardt. Dominik married his wife, Katherine Feldman, in October 1873 at Csatád. From 1871 to 1896 they had twelve children, seven of whom unfortunately died very young. The longest survivor of those seven, Konrad, died at the age of 15. Three did not live a year. Three others died at the ages of 5, 3 and 2 years. Dominik and Katherine's oldest child, Peter, was born out of wedlock possibly due to Dominik being in the military (compulsory service at that time) and a prohibition on soldiers to marry. This has yet to be verified. Dominik made at least one trip to the United States, arriving in Baltimore, Maryland from Bremen, 27 March 1905 on the ship Cassel. He was reportedly going to join his son, Johann Nikolaus, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Johann had immigrated to the U.S. in 1903,
