Donald Owen “Don” Windybank

Corporal 2972, 18th Battalion, New Zealand Infantry. Son of Russell and Isabel Phoebe Windybank. Husband of Edna Mildred Windybank (nee McKenzie), of Kingsland, Auckland, New Zealand New Zealand Herald, 16 July 1941 SOLDIER-BOXER MISSING Word has been received by his parents that Private Don Windybank, the well known Aukland boxer, has been posted as missing in Crete. Known in the ring as Don Johnson, he was runner up in the amateur welter weight championship of Auckland two or three times. After turning professional he did very well, among his victims being Vic Caltaux, present welter weight of the Dominian.
