BELOVED SON OF THE LATE SIDNEY FLEMMING AND M.D.FLEMMING OF COBHAM

Second Lieutenant Douglas Sidney Flemming was the elder son of Sidney and Martha Flemming of Cossins, Cobham, Surrey. Douglas served in the Great War with the King's Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment). He fell aged 33. Douglas is also remembered on the family grave in Hampstead Cemetery, London, where the inscription reads: " In loving memory of Sidney Flemming, died 29th May 1905 in his 51st year. Also of Martha Dullam Flemming, wife of the above, died 7th June 1938. Also in loving memory of Mary Dullam Blackman, niece and adopted daughter of Martha and Sidney Dullam Flemming, died 21st Feb. 19 04, aged 19. In Loving remembrance of Douglas Sidney Flemming, elder son of the above, aged thirty three. 2nd Lieut. the King's Own Royal Lancaster Regt. who died on June 1st 1917 from wounds received in action, and is buried in the Anglo French Military Cemetery, Salonika. 'Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.'"
