He played an active role in the social and political life of Brăila, serving as a councillor at the Town Hall and later as president of the County Council in 1880. His political career continued with his election as a deputy and senator in 1888, positions through which he significantly contributed to the development of the city. In 1906, he was elected mayor of Brăila. At the conclusion of his term, he bequeathed his substantial fortune to the city through a testamentary legacy, designating it for philanthropic and public interest purposes.
