Slajmer is considered the pioneer of modern surgery in Slovenia. He introduced asepsis, lumbar and local anesthesia, X-ray, organized a modern surgical service and designed an operating room. He participated in the planning of a hospital building near Zalaska cesta. He worked professionally with abdominal surgery.
