Sacred to the memory of EDWARD HARVEY Mate of H.B.M.S Asia Son of Captain Edw. Harvey Royal Navy Born August 10th 1815 Died May 28th 1828 This monument is erected by his Messmates in H.B.M Ship Asia Anno Domini MDCCCXXXVIII

Son of Admiral Sir Edward Harvey and Eliza Ann Harvey (nee Cannon). Edward was born on the 10 August 1815 and baptised on 14 September 1815 at St Leonard's Church, Deal, Kent. They were living at Lower Street, Lower Deal, when he was baptised. He was a mate of the H.B.M ship Asia, when he sadly died aged 22, in Athens, Greece. Dover Telegraph and Cinque Ports General Advertiser 14 July 1838 Deaths May 29th 1838, at Athens, Edward Harvey, mate of her Majesty's ship Asia, eldest son of Captain Edward Harvey, R.N. Walmer, aged 22 years.
