Eirini Paraskevas Rallis Nikolakopoulos

Family history as told by Sophia Daifotis Glover to her cousin James Peter Kalivas, June 1999 Eirini Rallis (Yiayia to both Sophia and James) married Paraskevas Stasinopoulos. They had four children: Panayiotis, Sophia, Lambrini, and Maria. Paraskevas died shortly after Maria was born. When she was 34, Eirini married a man who was 65, a widower from another village and had two children. Leaving Eirini's four young children, now ages two to eight, with relatives and friends. Although they lived apart, Eirini and her husband continued to send support to the families who were now raising Eirini's children. Then Eirini's new husband died and she moved back to her home village, Kallithea. When Eirini's first husband, Paraskevas, died he had some property that was sold and put in trust for his children. So when Eirini returned to Kallithea, she was given enough of the children's money to build a small house where they all lived together again. As the children came of age, they took their trust money and used it to emigrate for America. First Panayiotis (Peter), then Sophia, then Lambrini. Maria stayed behind, was married to Demetrios Daifotis, and had three children: Sophia, Panayiotis and Evangelos. Panayiotis was killed in the war. Sophia and Evangelos emigrated first to the US and then settled in Canada. Eventually Maria came over too.
