Gunner. He was born in St Georges, the son of Russian parents Harris, a boot finisher by profession, and Rebecca Verein. At the time of the 1911 census, the Verein family were residing at 10 Felbrigg Street, Cambridge Road. Aged 20, Verein died on 4 March 1917, during the Salonika Campaign while serving with the Base Depot of the London Brigade, Royal Field Artillery.
