A Sturmmann. The Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge records his place as birth as Hoffnungsthal, which could be one of several places but Find A Grave Contributor Daniel K. Welsh has stated that: "he was born in Hoffnungstal, Akkermann, Bessarabia - ROMANIA (Defunct Village) and that his parents were Reinhold Schnaidt (1888- ? )and Lydia Henke (1895- ? )" .
