aka Evdoxia G. Adamson-Savaides Evdoxia Savaides Adamson, wife of AdU founder, passes away Date Posted: January 27, 2015 at 10:54 AM Evdoxia Savaides Adamson, wife of AdU founder George Lucas Adamson, passed away on January 20, 2015 at the Costa del Sol Hospital in Marbella, Spain at the age of 94. Mrs. Adamson was born in Calcutta (now Kolkata), India to Greek parents working in the country on May 2, 1920. She received her education first in Marseille, France and then at the American College in Athens, Greece. It was at the American College where Evdoxia met George Lucas when the latter was invited as guest speaker at one of her school's programs. They were married on July 7, 1938, and settled in Manila in August of that year. Continuing her studies at the university, Mrs. Adamson finished her bachelor's degree in Education in 1949 and her degree in Foreign Service a year later. She would go on to complete her Bachelor of Laws in 1954 and her master's degree in Education in 1955. Working concurrently at the university while studying, Mrs. Adamson served as a member of the Board of Trustees from 1949 to 1965. She became dean of the College of Education from 1956 to 1958 and dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Science from 1958 to 1966. Mrs. Adamson also assisted Dr. Adamson in his various endeavors, particularly as consul general of Greece to the Philippines. As Greece's top representative to the country, Dr. and Mrs. Adamson met with Filipino and other foreign dignitaries, including the country's former presidents. The Adamsons retired from the university in 1967, three years after turning it over to the Congregation of the Mission, and they were conferred the titles President Emeritus and Dean Emeritus respectively. They returned to Athens soon after. After Dr. Adamson passed away in 1974, Mrs. Adamson relocated to Spain and continued to live there until her demise. She is survived by her only son, Lucas George Adamson and his wife Theresa June DiMartile; granchildren George Lucas and wife Maria Gonzalez, and Dorothea Alexandra; and great-grandchildren Maria Alexandra and Lucas George. Her remains were cremated on January 22 and will be brought back to Athens to be interred beside her husband. Adamson University is grateful for Mrs. Adamson's contributions and requests everyone to pray for her eternal repose.
