Frederick George Mobbs

In memoriam

Corporal, Gloucestershire Regiment. Age: 32. Son of Frederick George Mobbs and Mary Jane (nee Parker). This Frederick was baptised at St Cuthbert's, Bedford on 10 May 1885. He married Hannah Sabey in Bedford in 1904, and they had four daughters, one of whom (Rose Mabel) died in 1912. A report of his death appeared in the Bedfordshire Times and Independent on 20 October 1916. It reads: "It is with regret that we have to announce the death of Corpl. F. G. Mobbs, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. G. Mobbs, of 41 Westbourne Road, Queen's Park, who died of dysentery and fever after a long illness. He was a native of Bedford and was employed for six years at the Lion Hotel as 'bus driver before leaving Bedford for Buckingham. He leaves a widow and three children to mourn his loss."
