15433 Private Frederick Simmonds, Died of Wounds received in action on the 10th.October 1916, Aged 28, while serving in "A" Company of the 7th.Battalion, The Royal Berkshire Regiment. Son of Henry and Sarah Simmonds, of 21, Boarded Lane, Reading. In the 1911 Census, Frederick (20) and employed as 'Labourer at a Brick Factory' was reported to be living at 13 Bosiers Square, Coley St., Reading with his brother William James (24) 'Labourer at a Mineral Water Factory', William's wife Ada (21) and two children, Harry William (2) and Alice Louisa, 11 months. Also living at this address was Frederick and William's mother Sarah (56) who was working as a 'Charwoman'. Frederick's sole legatee was his mother Sarah although he was the father of a child whose guardian was Emily Atkins. Frederick was originally buried in Janes Military Cemetery, a few miles to the north of Sarigol, exhumed and reburied in Sarigol Cemetery sometime during 1921-22.
