Private (Stretcher Bearer), No. 13473, 8th (Service) Battalion. The King's (Shropshire Light Infantry). Volunteered for active service soon after the outbreak of war and enlisted in the Shropshire Light Infantry 7 Sept. 1914; served with the Salonika Army, whom he was employed as a stretcher-bearer, and died at Salonika 18 Sept. 1918, of wounds received in action. Buried there. His Commanding Officer wrote " Your son has always done his duty well, and been keen on his work as a stretcher-bearer, and his loss is deeply felt by all of us.".
