Slamat and the destroyers H.M.S. Diamond and H.M.S. Wryneck were sunk in air attacks east of the Peloponnese in the evacuation during the Battle of Greece The others from this detachment who were killed were Lance Corporal E. G. Jones and Signalmen F. L. Richards and L W Jackson. Thirty-one Royal Signals all ranks from several units were lost
