Gerasimos Lavranos

Gerasimos Lavranos (Corfu May 30, 1935 - Athens, March 24, 2015 ) was a Greek composer. From very small he showed his talent in the arts since age 11 years was a member of the local fylarmonikis company of his birthplace, "Mantzaros Nick." Following the advice of his teacher Sp. Metallinou turned to jazz music than classical studies. He created dozens of compositions (the first disc released in 1958) which interpreted top names in Greek song and made many tours abroad. He also wrote music for about 25 films of old Greek cinema. In 2007 the magazine «Jazz & Jazz» placed him on a list of the top musicians of its kind, ever. Brother is Nick Lavranos.
