In memoriam

Olympic Champion. As a Greco-Roman wrestler, representing the country of Romania in the light-flyweight division he distinguished himself by winning the gold medal at the 1972 Summer Olympics summer Olympics in Munich Germany. He also procured a silver medal in the 1976 Montreal Olympics. During his career he also won the 1969 and 1972 world title and the European title in 1970, 1972 and 1973. Later in life he became a coach at club Steaua București.
